Garden Makeover

"Garden Makeover" is one of the significant programs of our "YOU should GARDEN" project that allows us to build gardens for three community members to secure fresh food for at least a few months at no cost. This program will also inspire the neighbours to start gardening to grow organic vegetables. Our project team members and volunteers will directly help people to build small gardens in their backyard/front yard.

Services that are included in this program...

  • Designing and planting the garden.

  • Gardening support throughout the season.

  • Free gardening tools and supplies.

  • Fertilizing and pest control support.

  • A total of 15-hour volunteering support.

Services that are not included...

  • Normal gardening tasks e.g. watering. 

  • Any other work that is not directly related to gardening.

  • Any special gardening service including tilling and lawn care. 

Who is eligible?

  • Anyone but the University of Regina's students, staff and faculty will be prioritized. 

  • Your garden location must be accessible to Public Transport (Exception will be considered )

  • Your garden is located within 20 Km from Downtown Regina.

  • Seniors, people with disabilities and people with Indigenous Backgrounds will be prioritized.​

  • Your garden size is not more than 500-600 sq feet.

How much do we charge?

Free. If you want to offer us any refreshments while we are working, you are most welcome to do so.  We appreciate whatever you do for us. Normally, we don't want anything from you other than your determination and willingness to garden.
